About the provider

Hi there!

My name is Lyleanna Nguyen, PMHNP-BC and I am the owner of the private practice Simply Psych Nursing, A Professional Corporation.

I attended Azusa Pacific University in California for my MSN and I help manage adults age 18 years and older.

I am ANCC Board Certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and have worked with a variety of mental health disorders which include anxiety, depression, OCD, sleep concerns, adjustment disorders, transitional concerns, and mood disorders.

My approach

I prioritize psychological safety, collaboration, and respect for autonomy. Recognizing that prior experiences with mental health services may have involved feeling dismissed, misunderstood, or harmed, I focus on rebuilding trust through consistent, transparent, and empathetic communication.

This includes:

  • Pacing treatment in a way that respects the individual's comfort and readiness

  • Centering the individual's voice and choice while considering aspects of care

  • Creating a safe therapeutic environment where concerns and feedback are welcomed

  • Emphasizing empowerment by fostering self-agency and honoring boundaries

The ultimate goal is to support healing, stability and well-being through life’s challenges, transitions, and fluctuations.

What does working with a Nurse practitioner look like?

It can look a number of ways, though, will commonly consist of a mix between medication management and supportive psychotherapy modalities.

After our first appointment, we will determine what we believe is the best treatment plan to move forward with. Regular follow ups after initiation of medication treatment are important to ensure we are closely and carefully assessing for any side effects as well as benefits of treatment. In the beginning, it is common to have follow ups ranging from 1-4 weeks which can progress to 1-3 months. Treatment response, as well as treatment type, would play a role in determining the frequency of follow ups.

It is my goal to help you regain and maintain functioning so you can be more present in your own life.
